What to do When there are Errors Importing CISlite

The purpose of the CISlite form is to collect initial data from the client and then easily populate your CIS file with the client-supplied data. It is saved in a Microsoft Word-formatted document (.doc format), and should never be opened in any other word processing software.

Due to different versions of Word, occasionally the CISlite form might get data in the wrong format. If you receive an error while importing the data (This error may report the program had trouble reading the file), open the CISlite form in Microsoft Word and carefully review the answers supplied by client. Below are some of the common causes of this issue:
  1. Sometimes text is entered in boxes which are meant to be “currency” such as income, assets/liabilities, or insurance values. Look for non-currency values such as Unknown, TBD, N/A, ??. etc.
  2. In the Auto Insurance section, look in Coverage Limits. It should be a simple currency value and not something like "$100000/$30000."
  3. One way to locate most errors is to start from the first blank on page 1 and keep pressing "Tab". As you are going from field to field, if any error is encountered, Microsoft Word will warn you. This way, you can fix the error in the form.
If you find any such entry issues, correct them and continue to review the form. At the end save and close the file, then retry importing.
Note: Even after carefully reviewing the form and fixing any such issues, if you are not able to import, please send your .doc file to us at support@easysoft-usa.com (you may want to remove any confidential information). We will fix the file and send it back to you as soon as possible.
